Generate an SHA1 hash on Windows

*when you don't have Powershell

Download the FCIV tool from Microsoft:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290

Extract it to the same folder that your file is in.

Open a Command Prompt and run:

FCIV.exe -add <filename> -sha1

Generate an SHA1 hash on MAC OSX

Open a terminal.

type in the following:

openssl sha1 <full path to file>

Alternative to manually typing in the path, you can have the folder open in Finder and drag the file into the terminal window to enter the path automatically.
